Andreeva beat world number 21 Tauson 6-3 6-0 in a rematch of last month's final at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, where the 17-year-old won her first WTA 1000 title.

She is the youngest player to win nine of her first 10 matches at WTA 1000 events to start a calendar year since the format was introduced in 2009, and the youngest woman to make the round of 16 at Indian Wells since Amanda Anisimova did so as a 16-year-old in 2018.

Meanwhile, Rybakina's victory over Boulter was her 207th at WTA events since the start of 2020, with only Iga Swiatek (267) and Aryna Sabalenka (231) recording more.

Rybakina and Andreeva have one victory apiece from their two head-to-head meetingsfutsaljogo, with Andreeva triumphing in three sets when they last met in last month's Dubai semi-finals.
